Applicants who were placed in various universities and colleges across Kenya last month by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) now have the opportunity to change their institutions. KUCCPS announced via its official website on X (formerly Twitter) that the inter-institution transfer portal for 2024 is now open and will remain accessible until July 4, 2024.
This initiative is aimed at those placed in universities and colleges for the 2024/2025 academic year who wish to transfer to different institutions. Additionally, the Inter-Institutional Transfer (IIT) process allows applicants to change their courses, provided they meet the required cut-off points and receive approval from the prospective institution.
Applicants interested in making these changes should apply through the student portal at http://students.kuccps.net. The steps to complete a successful transfer are as follows:
- Log in and click on the “Transfer Application” tab on the dashboard.
- Enter the code of the desired institution and programme.
- Select the reason for the transfer and make a payment of Ksh 1,000 following the provided instructions.
- Submit the transfer application using the provided e-Citizen Payment Reference Code.
The progress of the transfer application can be tracked through the student’s portal. Both the institution the applicant is leaving and the one they wish to join must endorse the application, which can be monitored online. If the new institution does not approve the transfer, applicants will be notified through the portal and advised to consider other programmes or institutions. KUCCPS will step in once both institutions have endorsed the transfer.
After KUCCPS approves the transfer request, applicants must download and print the transfer letter. This letter must be submitted to the new institution, which will then provide the admission letter and other joining instructions.
